Another shot with the wedge stone still in place. I think the wall that is in the back ground in the shot where the center wedge stone has slipped is barely visible at the lower left. Notice how the center wedge stone is perfectly even with the stone holding it on the right.

Well, after examining it further, I think the crude wall that appears to be supporting the partially fallen wedge stone is actually in the background, though there are three reverse shots of this doorway, with the wedge stone still in place, which don't seem to show a tall wall like that. This...

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media 'Temples of Jupiter & Sun, Baalbek'

Wow, check it out. This looks like the reverse view, from the other side, of this shot Baalbek. The Interior of the Temple of Jupiter, Looking East but the center wedge stone has not yet fallen nor has the crude wall been built below it. One can even see that the stone holding the wedge stone...

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media 'The Circular Temple aka the Temple of Venus, Baalbek'

So blatantly obvious that the newer the stone work the poorer the quality. This looks to be the "hexagonal forecourt" which is no longer standing.

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media 'The Temple of Jupiter, from the North-East, Baalbek'

This one shows a medieval castle type structure built on top of the original structure, to the upper left, with poorer quality, smaller stones. Notice how the top stones with the gaps between them are missing in the shot from the south-west. Once again, look at the terrain compared to that first...

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media 'Baalbek. General View of the Ruins, from the South-West'

Cool series of pictures, what a score. But look at the terrain in this picture, then look at the terrain in the one at the beginning of the series, Tomb of a Mohammedam Monk (Santon) Baalbek Can't be the same location.

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media 'Baalbek. The Interior of the Temple of Jupiter, Looking East'

Interesting shot. Looks like the center stone fell, until it wedged in place lower down, then a lesser quality wall was built below and around it. And that wall has a little hill of dirt/sand slanted across the bottom. Maybe at one time someone didn't want that wedge shaped stone to fall any...

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media 'Tomb of a Mohammedam Monk (Santon) Baalbek'

Does not appear to still exist if it ever did. There is no octagonal structure on the Baalbek layout map. There is a hexagonal structure or remains of, called the hexagonal forecourt but nothing is standing, though one fallen, broken pillar looks similar to those in the picture. That structure...

Primary Sources, according to an A.I.

It really does seem like a person trying to look things up and then using a format to apologize and explain. So how would you pronounce AI if you were going to say it as a word, "eye", does AI sound like eye? How about "All seeing AI".

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media '1882: Captain Kostovich's Aircraft'

I enjoy looking at these ancient invention images you find. I think the images are typically made by someone who is not the designer and is going from a description. In the above image we see something like a combination blimp/airplane, at least I can't see any other reason to have such a large...

The Great Sphinx of Giza and its Mystery Chambers

Well... there's this guy, Robert M. Schoch, a professor at Boston University, Wikipedia referred to one of his theories, also held by others, as "fringe theories" so naturally I was interested. "The Sphinx water erosion hypothesis is a fringe claim, contending that the Great Sphinx of Giza and...

    1904: Subterrene Vehicles Traveling Underground

Well... I'm pretty skeptical about any of the vehicles pictured above, though there's a lot of info about underground boring machines, but you're talking about a vehicle. Let me tell you what I experience here in eastern WA. Out here among the wheat fields we have a wire fence around the...

Victory Columns were Airship Mooring Masts?

A great summary and the thing that strikes me about these towers is their inability to take side loads. If the towers extended down into the ground they would be much stronger, but set on pedestals as they are that's not the case. However I think KD is right on the money with this thread...

Comment by 'Silhouette' in media 'Map of the World: fake or not?'

Cool find. I'm rather suspicious but it contains some interesting ideas. It really strikes me how much is credited to "the Nazi"s" when they were only around 12 years, according to what we're told. In the top left we have a huge moon inside the dome, with the words "the unknown" above it. Below...

Hey, KD, just wanted to let you know that I literally can't get this site on Starlink. We got a new router from them about a year ago and suddenly I couldn't get this blog. Recently I talked with JD on the "new" SH and he gave me the link, which I still couldn't pull up, but it came up on our...

Mud Flood in Sardis: archaeologists are silent...

Well, naturally, an invading army would be followed by many wagon loads of dirt to dump over the site. In the pictures they look like stacked segments. If they were one piece of marble, how did they cut them and stack them so precisely? I know marble is not that hard to cut, but they must have...

19th Century Noah's Arks: Whaleback Steamer Ships

This topic is just mind boggling to me, thanks KD and great research! I'm probably going to reiterate some of what you said but why would they make a hull with rounded upper edges rather than edges where the deck meets the hull at a right angle as in almost every other surface vessel? Having the...
